The Maran is French breed from the village of
"Marans". As an Egg laying breed Marans have
been awarded and recognized world wide for
its excellent Brown to chocolate coloring.
Marans are a utility breed which makes them
useful as a meat bird, and as a layer. I have
found they are a Quick grower and the chicks
will start showing feathering as early as two
days old. They are a mild manner bird not easily
spooked and very capable of taking care of them
selves free range.
This hearty breed as been a joy to tend , for us
here at the Blue Hen Hatchery. We know you
will enjoy them too!!!
