Welsummer  Very Rare
Egg color: Rich Dark Brown
Average Eggs Per  Year: 190 - 220
Size: Standard
The Welsummer a dutch breed, was
developed in The Netherlands,some time
around the turn of the century.
I have found that they are a very hearty
breed and the first of my breeds to begin
laying despite what the weather is doing.
As a utility breed  they serve as a layer
and a table bird .                Welsummers
seem to be  painted for the tall grass and
dried leaves which is were they seem to be
at home as a forager. The roosters are a
very protective of their  flocks, never
letting them stray to far and are very
welcoming to young new pullets.
This hearty breed has been easy to care for
and fun to raise . I find my self spending
far to much time enjoying watching them
as they interact with each other.
I expect that you will find them as fun
and charming to care for as I have.
